Republican Fall Convention

Republican Fall Convention

ANAHEIM (CNS) - The three-day California Republican Party Fall  Convention begins today in Anaheim with the theme ``Rebuilding from the Ground  Up,'' part of the effort at reshaping the state party.

More than 1,000 party activists and leaders are expected to attend the  convention at the Hilton Anaheim, which includes workshops on the Republican  National Committee's efforts to reach out to Republican women, insuring just  and fair elections and ``building persuasive messaging,'' according to Mark  Standriff, the California Republican Party's director of communications.

Economist Art Laffer will address today's Executive Committee lunch,  while Republican National Committee Co-Chair Sharon Day will speak at tonight's  dinner banquet.

Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., the chairman of the National Republican  Congressional Committee, is tentatively scheduled to speak at Saturday's lunch  banquet via a video feed from Washington. Walden canceled plans to attend the  convention because of the ongoing budget discussions in Washington, Standriff  said.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a possible candidate for the party's 2016  presidential nomination, will speak at Saturday's dinner banquet.

On Sunday, the delegates will vote on various resolutions.
