LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Scheduled maintenance on of the four runways at LAX was one factor in the delays plaguing incoming flights today.
Maintenance work was underway today on Runway 24 Right, the northern- most runway at LAX, said Los Angeles World Airports spokeswoman Katherine Alvarado
About 45 incoming flights to LAX had been delayed as of midday, she told City News Service.
The FAA instituted a ``ground hold'' on some flights departing towards LAX, and reported delays averaging 41 minutes for flights headed here.
Alvarado said bad weather elsewhere in the country, and heavy holiday passenger loads, were also factors in delays.
The FAA reported morning delays of about 90 minutes for flights at Denver International Airport.
