Some businesses in southern California are on the hook for millions of dollars.
The owner of LA Payroll, which is responsible for handling payroll taxes for dozens of businesses in the area, has disappeared after apparently stealing about 8 million dollars.
Tovmas Grigoryan bought the company in January of last year, took the money that was supposed to pay federal and state taxes but allegedly kept it for himself. No taxes have been paid to the IRS since July.
LA Payroll was shut down in December, about the time the businesses realized the taxes weren't paid and that Grigoryan disappeared. The IRS says the businesses still owe the taxes.
