LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman who spent seven years as an aide to Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar has filed a lawsuit claiming he retaliated against her after she turned down requests for sexual favors.
The Los Angeles Times reports that 34-year-old Francine Godoy filed suitThursday alleging Huizar suggested she run for a seat on the Los Angeles Community College District board and then tied his support for her campaign to sexual activities.
Godoy, who was Huizar's deputy chief of staff until April, says she that when she refused the 45-year-old councilman's advances, he cut back her duties and made her work from home.
Huizar, who's married and has children, said he had a "consensual relationship" with Godoy that he "deeply regrets." He called her claims false and malicious.
