Facebook is becoming a news source for a lot of people.
A new study from the Pew Research Center says just under half of adult Facebook users say they get their news from links posted by friends or news sources they follow.
However that only represents about 30 percent of the overall adult population.
What's different for news consumption on Facebook is that people wind up checking out news stories as a consequence of doing something else, like checking up on friends.
One person in the study said he believes "Facebook is a good way to find out news without actually looking for it."
