Donkey Danger In The Inland Empire

Drivers in the Inland Empire are being warned of donkey danger.

When a guy on a motorcycle ran into a burro north of Moreno Valley Monday night, it brought up a unique issue in the area -- donkeys are not legally required to be tethered.

Burros wander the area since being introduced about 60 years ago, no one owns or oversees them, and they're spread out from Riverside into San Bernardino Counties.

There are about four herds of 150 to 300 each, which is only an estimate since authorities haven't officially counted them. And now with more people in the area, the animals -- and drivers -- are at risk.
