Cancer Tidal Wave

Cancer Tidal Wave

A warning has been issued of a  "tidal wave" of cancer.

Scientists with the World Health Organization say nations should consider restrictions on alcohol and sugar in light of the prediction the number of cancer cases could reach 24 million a year by 2035, but it says half of those could be prevented.

The WHO says there needs to be a focus on prevention by targeting smoking, obesity and drinking.

It says other causes of the coming explosion in cancer rates come from infections, inactivity, radiation both from the sun and medical scans, air pollution, delayed parenthood, having fewer children and not breastfeeding.
